Each years the staff and volunteers at the New Orleans NO/AIDS Task Force host their annual walk. This event helps raise money for HIV programs, treatment, medication, and needed medical services for those with HIV/AIDS. It's always a fun and exciting event; that brings people from around the New Orleans area together, young and old alike come to support this important event.
This year was no exception, Hosted by Christian Le Blanc of the Young & The Restless, he truly did an amazing job of getting everyone ready and excited. At the time of this posting the NO/AIDS Task Force has raised $149,941.00; with the generous support of local companies: Chevron, Quest diagnostics, Avita Pharmacy, Higher Power, Girls First, Capital One, DHL, New Orleans Gay Men's Chorus, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen Uptown, Team UNO, and many teams who helped raise money.
I believe that it is important to support you're local community, and to give back whenever I can. My mother once told me that charity begins at home, and that it's not just about raising money, but showing your support. This enables me to try to give back whenever, and however I can. I had a wonderful time seeing my friends, meeting new people, and seeing so many come together for a common cause. To the men and women of the NO/AIDS Task Force, BRAVO! A job well done, and thank you.
I have always had this impression about porn stars or models which ever you choose to call them. These god like men that appear to have the perfect body, seem to always have their shit together, and most likely can have great sex. However, a few months ago I saw Boomer Banks at the Lords of Leather “Who’s Your Daddy Contest” and I began to wonder about what it’s like to be a porn star? How do they separate their personal life from their professional life, what makes them tick as a person?
Now to be honest I am not that into porn, don’t get me wrong I’ve seen some here and there, but to be honest it really doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t get hard, nor do I imagine what it would be like to be in the scene. Oh, believe me I can admire their perfect bodies and in some cases massive cocks, but as a general rule I just don’t get anything from porn.
When I was first introduced to Boomer I was amazed how soft spoken he was, and that he has this grace and passion when he speaks. Honestly I was prepared to spend time listening about his latest movie, but that wasn’t the case at all. I first notice how tall he is, it has been my experience that most are short. His laid back attitude about his profession to me was very interesting and then you realize after speaking with him that being in porn is not the only thing he wants to do with his life. When asked how he separates his personal from his professional life he states “the two are two completely different aspects of my life, and knowing who I am allows me to know the difference”. It might surprise many people to know that he is a very spiritual person, and this spiritual aspect guides his life, and “gives him balance” as he puts it.
Boomer is an engaging person, who talks with passion about his career and his future. One thing that surprised me the most was his passion about fashion. Boomer admits that his one true love in life is fashion, and wants to create a career designing and showing his own line of clothing. He can most likely talk for hours about his passion for fashion, and the direction he wants to go.
I asked Boomer where he see himself in 5 or 10 years and his answer would surprise most people. He doesn’t plan his life in black and white, but allows it to be organic, and doing porn is just a chapter in his life, it doesn’t define him. While he takes his profession seriously you can tell that he considers it to “just a part of my life”. His goal when preforming is knowing that people are enjoying themselves and having a good time, if that happens then he has done what he set out to do.
Regardless of how you see him, I have found that he is a simple man, with dreams, and very intelligent. There is no pretense about who he is, he is completely at ease with doing porn, or performing. In ending Boomer stated “porn doesn’t define me, it allows me to do something I want and that’s important to me”. So, while many only know Boomer from films, I was lucky enough to spend some time with him, and to be honest find him interesting, and has the ability to have an engaging conversation. I was more than impressed!
