Sometimes you come across someone while not that well known but for some reason interests you. Lord Vigor is an extremely interesting person and very soft spoken but once you start talking he is open and honest about his life and what he does. Now I know you’re wondering who is Lord Vigor and what does he do?
The wonderful part of doing a blog is that I can select people who just interest me. I became aware of Lord Vigor when I received a poster for Phoenix Bar, in which Dallas Steele and Lord Vigor were going to be dancing. I have to admit that I never heard of him and doing several internet searches turned up nothing, except his personal trainer/massage business.
Lord Vigor (I never asked him about the name) lives in Dallas, but his path to where he is today is unique. We tend to focus on men who are “gay” and have always been “gay”, but what about someone for years lived somewhat a double life, having had several relationships with women. “I thought I was expected to be with women, I liked men, but I was in the closet.”
Lord Vigor grew up in conservative El Paso, TX which he admits had its downside. “It was hard to find someone who understood what I was going through, to find that place of acceptance.” After college he would work in a gay bar as a waiter and DJ, it was at this point he wanted and lived the typical “gay lifestyle”. But at the same time he was getting tired of the “gay drama” and so he started dating women again, “I just couldn’t take all the drama, the games that some play, so I decided to date women.”
But it would be his move in 2003 to Dallas that Lord Vigor decided that he needed a new life, a fresh start one could say. This would begin his journey to fully live as a gay man but on his own terms. “I wanted a new life, something different, unique, to find a job that I wanted, and especially to grow.”
After doing several social work jobs, Lord Vigor understood that it wasn’t going to pay the bills and he needed to do something. He began doing massages on the side, and that grew into a steady clientele, which he admits it’s better pay and more flexible hours. He does not apologize for being gay and at times getting paid for sex, he appears to be comfortable between the straight and gay world. “I have no shame in what I do, and it’s my life to live,” he stated.
“I am sexually open, honest about who I am and I’m not going to lie about it,” he stated. He prefers to have a small group of men to explore with, men that he knows and understand each other. I asked him about bathhouses and he admits that doesn’t like going to them, “it seems strange to go and just have anonymous sex men you don’t know,” he says. But that leads me to ask bathhouse no but escorting yes!
Regardless of what you think about Lord Vigor if you sit down and just talk to him, you start to understand that he really is a cool guy. There isn’t this sense of “I’m better than you” or this stuck up attitude that most men in his position would give you. He really understands who he is as a person, and isn’t afraid to be himself. You get the impression that he just want to be open about his life, sex and to enjoy his life.
I have to say I enjoyed this interview, to get to someone with a different journey to finding himself. Before you ask, no I did not ask him for a massage, which would’ve been unprofessional!
