Adult entertainer Boomer Banks is taking aim at Grindr and demanding that Grindr do something to combat fake profiles. Recently he has been a victim of identity thieves creating fake profiles and using his images to promote a scam. Recently he release screenshots of the conversations, apparently someone was asking for Grindr users to sign up for a membership site.

In an article at Outbuzz.com he stated “I get reports at least twice a day—sometimes from people in different cities or even different countries—that my likeness is being used on Grindr,” He's concerned for anyone who signed up at these websites and gives their credit/debt card information. One instance Boomer recounts that  Once in Reno, Nevada, a guy claiming to be me asked guys to come over. He would physically assault them and rob them."  He is now insisting that Grindr do something about the fake profile using his name. It appears that Grindr was unresponsive after he reported this issue several times. It wasn't until he tweeted his concerns.

Other colleagues in the adult entertainment business have had the same issues. "Many of my colleagues will tell you the same thing to them," Billy Santoro, Dirk Cabree, and Rocco Steele appear to have similar problems with fake profiles.

So how does it work, it appears that Grindr users are asked to click on a link where they are lured to fake adult entertainer profiles and asked to sign up at InstaStudz.

Grindr responded to Boomer's tweet by stating “We’re SO sorry about this! Our product team is working to combat this problem head on and we’re here to support. We are actively monitoring for false accounts and taking action to remove them from our community.”

Just remember that if you're going to use any social app use extreme caution. Most entertainers will not ask for personal information, especially your financial. The best practice would be to report the account and let them handle the problem.
